CONTORTION AND MORE!

Contortion and more!

My career is pretty unusual, but I still find it fascinating that I have been able to gather such a range of experiences over the last few years. Contortion is just one element of my work. People book me to appear at galas, events and private parties, in films, at workshops, for commercials, and as a brand ambassador, speaker or presenter. Read more about what I can offer:

Contortionist

My work as a contortionist has already harvested a number of awards. I bend elegantly in every possible (and impossible) direction on the global stage, astounding the audiences at my shows. I’ve gained international recognition through my success as a finalist on TV talent shows in Switzerland, France, the USA, Germany and Italy.

I can work as a solo artist to enhance your event by performing a number of contortion numbers during an evening, or I can work with a singer or other musicians, with a band or an orchestra. However, I also perform with other artists, and I can put an entire “Nina Burri and Friends” show together, containing everything from music to magicians, if that’s what you’d prefer. Just contact me with your own ideas and we’ll work out the appropriate proposal to suit your event!

Other booking options

Workshops and lessons on topics including contortion, mobility and stretching. For professionals or beginners, and for anyone who would never have the confidence, but who would certainly like to try!

Actor

Even as a tiny child, I was fascinated by the art of acting, and it was actually a specific role in a Christmas musical that ignited my desire to tread the boards for myself. From the time of that dream as a 6-year-old little girl, I have always seen myself as an actor as well as a dancer; as far as I’m concerned, the most important requirement for any stage performer is to play their part believably.

As a child, I enjoyed a training in music, joined later by a series of theatre courses and private acting lessons and workshops. These days, I act in musicals and films as well as working as a contortionist, greatly enriching my career and adding extra excitement to my day-to-day creative effort.

I have agents in Berlin and Hamburg who provide me with a stream of opportunities to take part in ad spots, short films and TV series. Whether you need a contortionist for a TV advert or you’re looking to cast a “Bond girl”, please don’t hesitate – just ask!

Model

Standing in front of the camera has been a major passion for me for over 20 years. I was talent-spotted for modelling during my time as a ballet dancer. Someone was looking to cast a commercial with dancers who could bring a brand of shoes to life and put them in the spotlight. I was lucky enough to be chosen. Since then, images of me have appeared around the world, and I have worked creatively with countless wonderful photographers for magazines, books, exhibitions, calendars, advertisements and body and beauty assignments.

Who could have imagined that I might even make it into the anniversary issue of German Vogue, and work with the legendary Peter Lindbergh! But things sometimes happen, leading on to a series of other interesting jobs and opportunities for further collaboration. To learn more about me and my photographs, take a look at my “Body in Motion” photo book, which I published in association with Werd Verlag in 2018 . This includes countless images and provides an excellent representation of my work.

Stage performer

My presence on stage not only includes working as an artist and a dancer, but also as a musical interpreter, where I can make good use of all the experience I have gained over the past few years. From singing to theatre to acrobatics, I can pull it together to produce an incredibly entertaining experience. For over 10 years, I have also presented events and given talks to a very broad public – from artistic festivals to business events, for companies, associations and training courses. As well as the work generated by my contortion show, I am also often asked to be the presenter for various events, which I can do confidently (including multilingually where required). I would be happy to present your event in German, French or English, and I’m also available for interviews and talks.

These days, the combination of a Show section followed by a Talk section has developed into an extremely popular booking option (because it’s both exciting and informative). This template is also attractive for audiences of children or school pupils, and it can be supplemented with an additional Workshop section if required.

Showacts

In addition to her traditional and very popular contortion acts (including James Bond Act, Masquerade Act, Cabaret Act, Charlie Chaplin, The Rose), the contortionist Nina Burri also offers customers the possibility to choose other modules to extend the stage time and get even more entertainment at an event. So new in the program are:

-Shows with live music accompaniment: the customer can choose between several musicians or bands, with which Nina has often performed successfully. Depending on the budget, this can be from a solo singer, a cellist, a duo to a band in full formation that entertains the audience even after the joint performance. We offer them proposals in different musical styles.

-Footarchery Contortion: a highlight after each contortion number is the archery with the feet, which Nina recently added to the program and has already caused a lot of furor and applause. A masterpiece of coordination and accuracy, and in a pose that most people couldn't do even without an arrow bow.

-Quickchange or the art of changing one's clothes 10 times in a few minutes! "How do they do that?" is probably the most heard sentence after the performances of Nina Burri with her stage partner

Thomas Rellstab. The juggler and the snake woman amaze every audience with this new program. The two also work together for a full evening:

Contortion, diabolo, comedy, juggling, quickchange and live music are the ingredients with which they can offer programs between 20 minutes and 1 hour (or 3 x 20 minutes) at an event.
