Frequently asked questions

You’d like to book Nina Burri for your event, but you’d still like to ask some questions? Here are a few answers!
  • What can I book Nina Burri to do?

In the past, Nina has been booked for all kinds of event, but she specialises in contortion and variety shows at concerts, trade fairs, exhibitions and private events, in casinos, on cruise ships, and at company events worldwide. She also often presents entire events, appears as an actor in front of the camera or on stage and works as a model. You can see the full portfolio of what she offers here (to the portfolio). The location of the event, workshop or photoshoot is not a problem – Nina Burri is happy to travel anywhere (as long as it’s permitted by the laws of the country in question).

  • How do I book Nina Burri?
    • You’ve planned an event or a project and you already know the relevant date? If so, just email us via the contact form to check availability. In the case of workshops, photoshoots or filming, you can also ask about a set of dates or a particular period of time. * Shows often get booked up very quickly and dates are allocated to the first client who makes a binding commitment. We usually hold optional bookings for 3 weeks, i.e. the date is reserved to them for that period.
    • Send your contact information by email to Nina Burri and include the:  -Name and address of the company or private individual, -Address at which the event or workshop will take place, -Name of the local contact, -Mobile and/or landline telephone number, -Description of the location and/or local conditions (are stage, light, sound, wardrobe all available?), -Form of performance required: contortion, presentation, guest on talk show, photoshoot, workshop, etc., -Please tell us all the relevant details for the event, plus any special requests you might have regarding shows, costumes, music, etc.
    • Sign the contract you receive from us, scan it and send it back to us by email.
    • Contact Nina Burri by email with a timetable and a programme for the event or workshop, including all the details that might affect her show.* We must have a copy of your timetable at least 2 weeks before the event/workshop in case we need to make any changes!
    • Pay the travel invoice (unless we’ve agreed otherwise) and book a hotel (if necessary). NB: In certain cases, part of the fee may be requested in advance: 25% for a workshop or photoshoot and 50% for a show. This is for my benefit and yours, to ensure that the date is kept free and that the event does in fact happen.
  • What are the on-stage and backstage requirements for a performance?

Number of shows at one event

Nina has a number of different performance-ready contortion show acts, all of which involve a variety of subject-matter, music and costume. She can perform a maximum of four shows in a single evening, but most clients ask for two different acts.

    Length of shows

The shows normally last for at least five minutes each, though this may be extended to a maximum of 15 minutes. The shorter each individual show, the greater the potential number of appearances. If she is working with a singer or a variety of other musicians, Nina Burri can offer a show lasting an hour, combining a concert with contortion.

    Set-up and rehearsal time

A maximum of 15-30 minutes is required for a lighting and sound check with the responsible technician, with the set already erected (if required).

In the specific event of working with musicians

A rehearsal will be required if the music is to be played live. Otherwise we will have a technical run-through with music from a CD / MP3 / USB Stick.

    Equipment for every show

1 black or white synthetic leather carpet measuring 2 x 2 metres, provided and brought to the event by Nina Burri.

    To be provided locally

    • Music system
    • Music playback device
    • Lighting inside the room and /or a spotlight for the best possible view

    Special requirements

If there is no stage, or the available stage is extremely low, Nina will need an extra platform or a small stage so that every guest can see her properly. Dimensions: a minimum floor area of 2 x 2 metres, with a height of between 40 cm und 120 cm, depending on the position and the auditorium.

    Backstage

Nina Burri needs a warm room with enough space to prepare and warm up, with at least 3x3 metres free floor space. The wardrobe must be lockable, and the room must be ready to use from three hours before the artist’s appearance. A toilet and washbasin must also be available.

In addition, the client must also provide:

    • Two hand towels
    • Still water
    • Two chairs and one small table
    • A mirror, if possible

    Travel costs

Nina Burri lives in Switzerland. The client must pay the travel and transfer costs from Bern. The following airports may be used for shows taking part in other countries: Zurich, Basel or Geneva. We recommend that flights should be booked as early as practicable in order to keep the cost as low as possible.

Hotel booking (following agreement in advance):

    • If the journey to the performance is long, please book the night before the day of the event
    • Nina Burri has no preferences with regard to hotels
    • Please make sure that the hotel room is booked in the name of Nina Burri
    • Payment must be made in advance for the hotel
    • If you have presented your credit card to guarantee a deposit, this does not mean that you have paid for the hotel room in advance!
    • The hotel must be booked at least one week before a workshop!

    Workshops

Private lessons cost 100 CHF per hour.

Group courses can be arranged so that all the income from the course is shared in a 50:50 ratio between Nina Burri and the studio. The minimum number of participants will be fixed in advance. Alternatively, a fixed fee may be agreed for Nina Burri, to be paid regardless of the success of the workshop.

    Payment

Normally, payments in advance are only required in exceptional cases (*). You will be handed an invoice as per the day of the event, and you will be required to settle this invoice within 10 days. Travel costs and the costs of expenses will be agreed and settled separately.

*Payments in advance, of 25% (for workshops/photoshoots) or 50% (shows), are payable at the time of booking. The remainder of the payment must be made against invoice or by payment instruction on the day of the event/workshop!

Calling off or cancellation of the event/workshop

Nina Burri makes every effort to fulfil her bookings for events and workshops on every occasion, but if this becomes impossible due to the weather or illness or death or some other unforeseen circumstance, she will help you to re-plan.

    • Cancellation up to 1 month before the event = 50% of the agreed fee
    • Cancellation less than 1 month before the event: 100% of the agreed fee
    • In the case of payments in advance: neither the 25% payments (workshops/photoshoots) nor the 50% payments (shows) are refundable, but they can be used to re-book if you establish a replacement date within 90 days (plus the new costs associated with travel and the hotel booking).
    • Please note that when you sign a contract and book an entertainer, that entertainer books out that date for you and turns down all other engagements. If Nina Burri cannot get to your show because of the weather, illness, death, etc., we will find a comparable replacement for you, or refund your money, except in the event of force majeure, which would have rendered a performance impossible.  If Nina Burri is ill, she will present the customer with a valid doctor’s certificate. If required, she will also search for a replacement act, if it is impossible to postpone the show. If this is the case, no default costs will be incurred by Nina Burri in respect of the client.

Ways by which a small studio might also be able to afford a workshop:

    • Open the lesson to the public if you have enough space, or make it available online for a fee.
    • Invite other trainers who either work in the same form of sport or in other sports sectors. These workshops are extremely popular with dancers, gymnasts, cheerleaders, swimmers, hockey players, footballers, yoga and fitness practitioners, Swiss wrestlers (“schwingen”), climbers, acrobats, circus performers, figure skaters, vaulters, etc.
    • Organise a half-day “training the trainers” workshop. If you can register 10 trainers you’ve covered your costs.
    • Run sponsorship campaigns
    • Find other like-minded people and form small groups to make a booking, rather than booking as private individuals. This brings down the cost per person.
